IS200EDEXG1B GE Mark VI
The IS200EDEXG1B is an exciter de-excitation control board from the EDEX series. It is a functionally revised version of the B series, identified by the "G1" board designation and the "B" revision suffix.
It serves as the "last line of electrical defense" in the system's safety chain: it receives de-excitation commands from the higher-level controller, outputs SCR (thyristor) trigger pulses, and conducts the de-excitation resistor or de-excitation inductor circuit to rapidly convert the stored energy in the excitation windings into thermal energy for safe dissipation.
This board is typically installed in the auxiliary cabinet of the excitation system. It operates in SCR de-excitation mode and works in conjunction with modules such as the EMIO (De-excitation I/O Board) and EXTB (Terminal Board) to form a complete de-excitation control circuit.

| Model | Positioning and Differences |
|---|---|
| IS200EDEXG1A | A basic revision of the EDEX series, compatible with the B series in terms of functionality and suitable for general operating conditions. The key difference from the G1B lies in the revision level and component selection; the G1B offers optimizations in reliability and long-term stability. |
| IS200EDEXG1BAA | An enhanced version of the B series, featuring further optimizations to the BOD (breakdown diode) network and interference immunity; it should be prioritized in scenarios requiring higher trigger reliability. |
| IS200EXCSG1A | The EXCS current-sensing board belongs to the same EX2100 excitation protection system as the EDEX, but with a different focus: the EXCS specializes in sensing and providing feedback on the current conduction state, while the EDEX serves as the primary controller for triggering execution and energy dissipation. |
| IS200EXHSG1A | EXHS Excitation Machine High-Speed Contactor Drive Board: responsible for the drive control of high-speed contactors; it is functionally complementary to — rather than a replacement for — the EDEX's SCR demagnetization path. |
The original de-excitation boards in the in-service units of a certain combined-cycle power plant were early models; their response speed and immunity to interference no longer met the power grid's requirements for rapid de-excitation. After replacing them with IS200EDEXG1B units, the standard EX2100 interface was used to establish seamless integration with the EXTB/EMIO system. By retaining the original jumper configuration and eliminating the need to modify the upper-level software, improvements in de-excitation response speed and safety were achieved.
It is primarily a discrete output module used to transmit digital signals from a controller. This board must be connected to the EMIO board and the EXTB board to form a complete control and power supply circuit.
No. The EDEX board has a built-in BOD (breakdown diode) overvoltage self-triggering mechanism. When the SCR fails to trigger normally, the anode-to-gate voltage rises to the breakdown threshold of the BOD string; the BOD network will automatically conduct and trigger the SCR, forming a backup demagnetization path.
Typically, the warranty period for original products is 12 months.
